Game 99: "May we carry on" (Results)

The timer dinged, the walls around all seemed to glow blue, before the rest of the lights then went out. There was silence for a moment, before a light shun on Aiko, who was standing at the post, looking at her buddiwatch.

"I took a run over on the votes, and it seems like we have a majority vote that someone was the cause of Ichigo's demise here on the island. There seems to be a few of you who weren't sure, or maybe you were simply didn't want to?" She asked out to the darkness in front of her, silence bestowed upon everyone.

"Now, before I reveal who gained the most votes, I feel it appropriate that we take some time for a moment of silence." And with that, the lights dimmed down to a blackout once more, and no sound could be heard, except for the ambient sounds of the undersea surrounding them. Until at one moment, a dim purple light then shun down from the sky. Dark wispy particles flew around it like embers to a flame, everyone looked up at the ceiling to see where it was coming from, before they trailed their eyes down and notice the light was shining down on Venli.



"Venli, you have been convicted and found GUILTY for the murder of Ichigo Kumakura that took place on the island. As punishment you will be locked away for the remainder of our time here at this island with no contact to any of the islanders." Aiko reads off a letter, then looking over at Venli.

"You are free to say your final words to those who stand before you." The lights turn back on, and everyone is staring at Venli, with a mix of confusion, doubt, or utter disappointment.

The Martyr has been convicted.

[Vaellin the Bard]

Venli stared as the light hit her and her eyes widened.

"But I... I didn't do it," she said to the Rhythm of Anxiety, Pleading mixing in as well. "I... couldn't have! I've spent all my life caring for people, not killing."

Her eyes flick down to her hand, the Rhythm of Tension now taking over. "No, I didn't kill her. It... it was an accident! We were just... talking and I felt so... angry and my... my mind went blank and I just... It was an accident!"

"I didn't know it was going to kill her. She's... she's always seemed so strong." Tears build up, the Rhythms mixing together almost. "I didn't mean to... I didn't expect her body to show up a week later... she always left for much longer. Left me alone with..."

Venli's head shot up, Pleading taking over again. "Mother! Please, I need to get off this island. My mother needs me! She has no one else to take care of her. I'm... I'm no murderer! I'm a caretaker! I just... I wouldn't harm anyone... I was... my head wasn't clear... that headache I felt... I don't remember anything. Nothing. I was just there in the tower then I was down on the ground running for my life. I couldn't have... I didn't do it."

She folds her arms as if a great chill overtook her, the Rhythm of the Terrors fully taking over, slow deep beats that filled the listener with dread. "I didn't do it. Please don't lock me away. I've been locked away for all my life while she got the freedom. I don't think I can stand to be locked up again. I... didn't do it..." Tears continued to fall.

[Peregrine]

After a long moment of staring at the woman he'd helped accuse, Linus speaks up.




"...This ain't right."

"Frog, you said that when something like this happened on the island years back, the... culprit, corrupted soul, whatever you wanna call it—he was sent to prison, right? But now they're keeping Venli locked away here, alone, without any official authority handling it? That's just inhumane! It's downright torture!"




"This island, everything about it is unnatural. I believe you, Venli! I believe you weren't in your right mind, that this island did something to you, it... it had to! I refuse to believe any of us here are killers. I just refuse to."

"Venli might have killed but maybe what they are saying after all we don't know if the fog effects nd if it only works while in the fog so they might have been controlled by the fog."

[zantz]

Zantz is taken aback, staring at the outburst and flow of emotions

"I-I just...."
"R-regardless if the fog did this or not, she still killed someone right? Murder is murder, no matter how you look at it. I detest the idea that someone would actually do this but, if this fog can actually cause people to act like this, then why keep us here? Let us leave so no more innocent people are harmed or even killed!"

Zantz begins to hold back tears while shooting.

"You're essentially....keeping us prisoners, but are allowing this fog or whatever mess us up and kill each other! Just let us go home!"

Zantz begins to hold back tears while shooting.

"You're essentially....keeping us prisoners, but are allowing this fog or whatever mess us up and kill each other! Just let us go home!"

"You aren't able to return home, you won't be for a long while. It's quite clear you were all brought here for a reason, and this trial should have shown you all why." She pauses for a moment and smiles on.

"This island isn't a resort for anyone to go along and have fun with, but rather a rehabilitation and reform center. You all have so much going on, all this stress, all the burdens you must carry, or even the problems that prevent you from functioning in society. You are all here for your own personal reason." Bianca looks over at Marisol, who is simply looking away from everyone.

"Venli committed murder, you have come to that conclusion. She simply was suffering too much, and therefore drove herself to do such horrible acts... It's simply a means of protecting both her and everyone else on the island. She'll be cared for until the end of our time here." No matter what Aiko had fed to you, what she says, her excuses for the island... It all seemed like nothing, everyone still got the feeling that something was very very off here.

"Now, Me and Marisol should get Venli away, Bianca will be here to help with anyone if they need it." She then looked over to Bianca, who nodded, and Marisol who just quietly looked over at Aiko, her face scrawled with hesitation.

Aiko then looked at Venli.
"You ready to go sweetheart?"

"'Rehabilitation'? I was happily living with my brother and now I'm here, deciding the fate of someone of who killed who! You're right that this island isn't a resort, it's a madhouse!"

Letting out a derisive laugh, Spark closes his eyes and support his chin on the podium. Knowing the reason before the rest doesn't make it any more believable.

Aiko then looked at Venli.
"You ready to go sweetheart?"

The Rhythm of Terrors continues to sound and tears continue to trail down her face. Venli looks at Aiko hauntingly. No, shes not ready to go, but nor will she fight. "I'm so... sorry Eshonai. I never meant to..." she whispers to the beat of the Rhythms.

[Peregrine]

Linus speaks quickly and desperately, his eyes wide and sympathetic.




"Venli, I swear to high Heaven that I am sorry. We're all gonna get out of here, you hear me? If it comes to it I will gladly defend you—in a real court. Whatever it takes, I will do everything in my power so we can see our families again. Just... hold on as long as you're able. Don't lose yourself. Do not lose yourself."


Almost exhausted, he rocks back into his podium and tightly grips the chest of his shirt.

"Alright, it's time to go now." Aiko and Marisol then went over to Venli, Marisol hesitantly grabbing some zipties from her pockets and zipping Venli's hands together behind her back, Aiko standing behind her and holding onto her hands, pulling out her lantern and walking out with Marisol.

"Don't stay down here for too long everyone~. We have another wonderful day planned for all of us, let's all just let this all behind in the past." And with that, the two left.

Once they leave, it takes a moment, but Venli's podium began to turn, and soon from the ground a table appears, along with a vase of flowers and a portrait of Venli.

[Ame]

Ellie had been quiet since Aiko's announcement, unsure what to make of it. Eventually, she finally spoke.

"What will become of her?"

"Like, she's going to be put in isolation, but what will happen then?"

"Will she meet the same fate as AJ McKean?"

"Wait. No. I doubt her fate will be the same as the late AJ."

"... Maybe it's just I hope she won't... have that happen."

"Miss Aiko, what happens if... this happens again?"

"What will happen then?"

[Tetsu]

Kitaresu kept silent all these while, torn inside. She refused to believe such a gentle soul could have harm someone.

“T-This is wrong. T-they say this is a rehabilitation centre for us..didn’t they? S-So why are they locking her away, we have to get of this island or at the very least stop anything like this from going on any further…”

Kitaresu tries to regain her composure as her eyes glasses over.

“S-She was so sweet and kind during our treasure hunt…she wouldn’t have done that!”

Tears falls from her cheek

Kaoru watches Venli leave their group, pained to have played a part in her isolation. He hopes she can rejoin them on the outside, but for now, he turns to the others. "Everyone, there's something you should know about last night."

"When Kitaresu and I finished the scavenger hunt, with Strawberry and Venli, one of the things we found was this tape player. It wasn't working at the time, but it had this note attached."

He reads the note aloud. "When the time comes, and it will be soon, play this tape. It may mean the difference between life or death."

"I think that time is now." He reveals the tape player, making vibrations inside his hand. "I don't know what this will do, but it has a chance to help us, so please listen."

Then Kaoru plays the tape.

Willow shakes his head

"Murder is murder. Doesn't matter the reason. I learned that a long time ago. At least you guys arent that stupid to not figure this out. Lets hope no one else goes down this path, alright people?"
